We invite applications for two fixed-term postdoctoral researcher positions within the Good News from Academia project. The project investigates ordinary academic work and aims to present it beyond the extremes of “top research” or “grim reality” by focusing on the everyday meaningful work. The recruited researchers will be part of the Good News from Academia research team in Tampere University’s Faculty of Management and Economics (HEG). Tasks include study design, data collection, data analysis and writing with the team. Research topics will be defined by project goals and the candidates’ expertise; the researchers may also participate in project communications and other duties. The appointment may include teaching and other duties up to a total of 10 percent of annual work time. Requirements include a doctoral degree in a relevant field (sociology, political science, governance studies, anthropology, cultural studies, education science or similar), ability to work independently with active collaboration in a research group, and proficiency in Finnish and English. The selection emphasizes the candidate’s suitability to the research area, motivation and research achievements including demonstrated scholarly writing and argumentation. Tampere University highlights openness, critical thinking, diversity, learner-centeredness, courage, culture and responsibility as core values. We offer two fixed-term researcher positions with start 1 November 2026 or per agreement. First position ends 31 August 2028, second ends 31 August 2027. The salary follows the salary grid for university teaching and research personnel at levels 5–6, with additional performance pay. Typical starting salary is about €4,000–€4,200 per month. We offer opportunities to work in an active, internationally networked research group, support for pursuing further studies, help with obtaining external funding and supervision as part of the Higher Education Group (HEG) with about 20 PhD students. Employee benefits include flexible working arrangements, affordable restaurant and cafe services on all campuses, and support for cultural and sports activities.
