We are looking for a Building Automation Systems Specialist for our client in Espoo. The role focuses on building and property automation and the technical systems in smart buildings. In this role, you will program, commission, maintain and develop building automation systems. You will solve practical technical challenges and see how automation affects heating, ventilation, cooling and other building services systems. Your background may be in building or property automation, but this is not essential. Experience in industrial or electrical automation, electrical engineering or HVAC/building services can also provide an excellent foundation. You may be an automation engineer at the beginning of your career or a more experienced automation professional. The key is a strong technical foundation, interest in automation systems and willingness to learn and solve problems in practice. We offer the opportunity to develop into a building and property automation specialist. You do not need to know everything already; you will receive an introduction to the role and the systems in use. The varied specialist role combines programming, commissioning, technical problem-solving and customer work. You will contribute to building functionality, energy efficiency and optimisation of technical systems. You will have the support of an experienced organisation and the opportunity to learn from building automation professionals. The role can be tailored to your experience, whether you are early in your career or more experienced. The employment is permanent with Academic Work, working long-term in our client’s building automation business. Salary is approximately €3,300–€5,000 per month, depending on skills and previous experience. As a systems specialist, you will work in a skilled technical organisation. Building automation combines automation, electrical and HVAC technology. Automation systems control and optimise ventilation, heating, cooling and other building services processes. You will work with both the systems and software and the physical equipment and processes they control. You will work independently and with other automation and building services specialists, the project organisation and customers. The work includes customer sites and travel within the operating area. Your duties include: - Programming building and property automation systems. - Commissioning and testing automation systems. - Maintaining, developing and troubleshooting systems. - Working on digital integrations and connections between systems. - Developing and optimising automation for HVAC processes in buildings. - Monitoring system operation and investigating technical problems. - Acting as a technical specialist in customer projects. - Collaborating with customers, project teams and other technical specialists. You do not need previous experience specifically in building automation. A good technical foundation and interest in learning building and property automation are most important. Required skills and experience: - Relevant technical education, such as a bachelor’s degree from a university of applied sciences in automation, electrical engineering or HVAC engineering, or equivalent skills gained through practical work experience. - Work experience that provides an understanding of automation technology, and an interest in programming, commissioning and troubleshooting automation systems. - A practical approach and the ability to understand technical systems as a whole. - Fluent Finnish and the ability to work in English. - A category B driving licence, readiness to travel in the Helsinki metropolitan area and the possibility of using your own car to travel to customer sites. - An initiative-taking, responsible and persistent approach to work. Experience in any of the following is an advantage: building or property automation; programming and commissioning automation systems; logic programming or PLC environments; industrial automation; electrical automation, electrical installation or electrical contracting; HVAC systems; building services; servicing, maintaining or troubleshooting automation systems; and technical work in a customer or project organisation. Different experience levels can be considered. You may be a recent graduate or early-career automation engineer with relevant internship or work experience, a practical electrical or automation professional, someone moving from industrial automation into building automation, or an experienced building and property automation systems specialist. Further information: Start by agreement, as soon as possible. The position is full-time and permanent with Academic Work as a consultant, working at our client company. Location: Espoo and customer sites in the Helsinki metropolitan area. Salary: approximately €3,300–€5,000 per month depending on skills and previous experience. The role requires the ability to pass the security clearance required for the position and customer sites. We process applications during the application period and move quickly with suitable candidates, so please apply as soon as possible. Academic Work is handling this recruitment on behalf of its client. The client requests that all questions concerning the role be directed to Academic Work. Candidates are interviewed on an ongoing basis, and we may close the search before making final selections if the process has progressed. The selection process includes personality and cognitive ability tests. These tests help us find the right person and ensure an equal and fair assessment. As a consultant at Academic Work, you can grow professionally, build your network and make valuable contacts for your future. A designated consultant manager will support you.
