Nurse, welcome to work in the addiction withdrawal and rehabilitation unit at Laakso Hospital! We are now looking for an active, self-directed nurse with good cooperation and interaction skills for a permanent position on the withdrawal wards, starting on 1 December 2026 or as agreed. The unit comprises two wards, and we are now recruiting a nurse for Ward 1. All employees may need to work between Wards 1 and 5. The addiction withdrawal and rehabilitation unit cares for adult patients who need round-the-clock care to withdraw from substance use. The unit also cares for patients receiving medical rehabilitation. The purpose of withdrawal treatment is to stop long-term substance use, treat withdrawal symptoms and lay the foundations for rehabilitation. The wards provide withdrawal treatment for alcohol, drugs and medication, initiate and discontinue opioid substitution treatment, and change substitution medications. Treatment lasts approximately 3–14 days depending on the care required. The ward operates with closed doors, but treatment is voluntary. Care is provided within a recovery-oriented framework. The work is fast-paced acute substance-use care. Nurses’ duties include preparing care plans together with the patient and doctor, providing care in accordance with the care plan, medication treatment and acting as shift lead. The wards work on a multiprofessional basis. The ward’s core task is to provide high-quality care for withdrawal symptoms and motivate patients towards a substance-free life. The unit works in three shifts every day of the year. The addiction withdrawal and rehabilitation unit will move to the Aurora hospital area in spring 2027. Eligibility: A university of applied sciences degree in nursing, an earlier college-level qualification, a specialist nursing qualification, or a public health nurse or midwife qualification that includes registration as a nurse. The role requires licensing in Finland under the Act on Health Care Professionals (559/1994, 1200/2007). The language requirement is good spoken and satisfactory written Finnish. The role requires vaccination protection under section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis assessment under section 55. The selected candidate must submit a certificate concerning a drug test to the employer before starting employment. Before the selection decision, the applicant must provide an occupational health assessment of their ability to perform the duties. The LOP/LOVe LOP medication permit must be completed successfully no later than during the probationary period. Experience in substance-use nursing and/or psychiatric nursing, knowledge of Apotti, and a valid LOP/LOVE medication permit are considered an advantage.
