Social Guidance Counselor

Are you excited by broad and diverse tasks? Would you be the new social guidance counselor for our Haaga team? We are looking for a social guidance counselor for the multidisciplinary team of home services and social guidance for families with children in Haaga, which consists of nine social guidance counselors, a Romani family worker, 14 family workers, and a leading social guidance counselor. The work focuses on supporting families with school-aged children, but you should also be ready and interested in working with families of children of different ages. Our primary task is to support the well-being and daily coping of families with children in a timely manner, according to the principle of the lightest service. The duties of a social guidance counselor include guiding and advising clients, assessing service needs according to the Social Welfare Act, acting as a primary caseworker, and providing planned individual and family-specific social guidance. Families are mainly met in their homes or other agreed locations. Additionally, the social guidance counselor works with the family's close network and authorities. The nature of the work is mobile and multi-site. Social guidance is carried out during the opening hours of the family centers between 7 AM and 7 PM. Working as a social guidance counselor for families with children requires an open and active attitude, an independent work approach, good organizing, interaction, and cooperation skills, and the ability to grasp various client processes. Additionally, proficiency in the Apotti client information system and knowledge of the family service system are required. Our partners in the school-age team include schools and student welfare, family clinics, adult social work services, child and adolescent psychiatry services, and organizations. The family center model supports multidisciplinary cooperation for the client's benefit. You will be supported by a professional community of social guidance counselors for families, your own regional team, supervision, the family center's cooperation network and consultation support, and your supervisor. Eligibility: Eligibility is a university of applied sciences degree (Bachelor of Social Services/Sosionomi) suitable for the social field according to the Act on Social Care Professionals 817/2015 (Section 8) or an earlier college-level degree in the social field. Registration in the central register of professionals of the License and Supervision Authority is required. Language requirement: good oral and satisfactory written skills in Finnish. If your native language is other than Finnish or Swedish, you must present written proof of language proficiency (Act on Language Proficiency Required of Public Community Personnel Section 13). A criminal record extract is required (Act on the Clearance of Criminal Backgrounds of Persons Working with Children 504/2002). Vaccination protection according to Section 48 of the Communicable Diseases Act and a tuberculosis clearance according to Section 55 are required. Additionally, we require: Ability to manage an independent work approach. Experience in social welfare services for children and families, knowledge of social welfare legislation, and good cooperation and interaction skills.
