Kokkola City Library is seeking a professional passionate about engaging with children and youth. The main duties include library services for children and youth and developing these services. You will work in a team responsible for literacy and promoting reading. Customer service serves all ages and includes activities in the music library. You should be prepared to participate in collaboration with early childhood education and basic education, for example through book talks, storytelling sessions, and information literacy instruction. The role may in the future involve collaboration with secondary education. You will share responsibility for children’s and youth’s collections, participate in the library’s communications especially on social media, and in planning and organizing events and related activities. Qualifications: suitable university-level degree and library/information studies studies at university level totaling at least 60 credits or 35 study weeks. We value good teamwork and communication skills and an independent working style. Proficiency in Finnish and ability to serve customers in Swedish and English. A creative and proactive attitude and interest in children’s and youth literature are advantageous. Experience in library work and having access to your own car are also beneficial. Working time is 36.25 hours per week. The job is shift-based, including morning and evening shifts and Saturdays. The librarian works at the main library’s children and youth department and, as needed, at other Kokkolan kaupunginkirjaston locations. Salary is determined according to KVTES, 2KIR42B1. The position’s base salary is 2,714.22 euros per month, with possible experience allowance. Probation is 6 months. The selected candidate must present a valid medical certificate.
