B Cantor

Keski-Pori Parish, part of the Pori Parish Union, has a B-level cantor position requiring a higher university degree available. We are looking for a cantor to join us in developing the parish’s varied worship life and music work throughout the parish area as part of a team of three cantors. Keski-Pori Church, completed in 1863, is the parish’s main church. Services are also held at Ruosniemi Church and Pormestarinluoto Parish Centre. Church ceremonies form a significant part of the cantor’s work. Keski-Pori Church is the parish union’s most popular wedding church. The position includes music for services and church ceremonies, varied choir work with the chamber choir, church choir and men’s vocal ensemble, participation in confirmation-school teaching and working with people of all ages, as well as other music responsibilities to be agreed within the cantor team after the appointment. We expect you to take initiative and be able to plan and develop activities, have good collaboration, interpersonal and communication skills, a Christian outlook, and an enthusiastic, development-oriented approach. We expect you to be committed to developing the parish’s music work into the 2030s. The position requires a Church Council-approved B-level higher university degree in church music (Church Code of Regulations No. 163). The appointee must be a confirmed member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. Salary is determined according to remuneration group 601 of the Church’s collective agreement. The minimum salary is €3,519.55 per month, with possible experience-based and performance supplements. The appointee must provide a statement of health during the probationary period and a criminal record extract required for working with children and young people.
