About the role

We are seeking a peer mentor for a fixed-term and part-time role (50% of full-time) until December 31, 2027. Welcome to Diakonissalaitos to develop neuro-safe communities. The Neurokirjo adults development project aims to build a neuro-safe community coaching program and to shape the concept and requirements of neuro-safety through co-development. The Neurokirjo adults refer primarily to ADHD- and autism-spectrum adults who have a diagnosis or recognize neurodivergent traits in themselves. The project draws on lessons from the Diakonissalaitos’ Support for neurodivergence with lived experience and co-research on the needs and experiences of adults with ADHD and autism outside work and education. Task and its goals: in your work you will develop community coaching with the team and the target group. You will participate in piloting coaching sessions together with your co-working coach. You will help the team implement workshops related to neuro-safety for professionals. You will participate as part of the team in leading our multidisciplinary network for adults with neurodivergence. The job is mainly daytime; evenings and occasionally weekends. The project is implemented mainly in Helsinki. The workplace is located at Alppikatu 2, in Alppikortteli, Helsinki. Coaching sessions take place at various Diakonissalaitos sites in Helsinki or in the greater Helsinki area. We expect from you: personal experience as an adult living with neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD and/or autism). We value experiential knowledge and the perspective of lived experience. A secondary-level qualification (high school or vocational qualification). Interest and ability to work in human-centered development and in related changing situations. Motivation to understand and articulate phenomena, needs, pain points and successes of neuro-safe communities for the project’s development. Willingness to learn and share neuro-safe community skills. Ability and interest to work with changing groups and with diverse people. We also value experience in community coaching and understanding of working with minority groups and intersectionality. Work culture: you will join a team including a coordinator and a coach.
