About the role

We are seeking a parking inspector for a permanent position starting October 1, 2026. The parking enforcement and vehicle relocation responsibility area within the permits and supervision service area of the Urban Environment service entity is responsible for monitoring compliance with regulations regarding parking, stopping, and idling, as well as issuing parking fines and other legally prescribed sanctions. The vehicle relocation unit handles the required local and storage relocations of vehicles within the city of Turku. Parking services maintain the city's parking payment machines and ensure the development and functionality of parking payment options. The parking inspector's duty is to monitor compliance with regulations regarding the parking and stopping of vehicles, as well as to guide, instruct, and advise, and if necessary, issue parking fines and other sanctions for parking violations and idling offenses. The duties of the parking inspector also include vehicle relocations as needed. The work of a parking inspector is demanding both physically and mentally. Daily repetitive walking for several hours on hard surfaces is strenuous and requires good physical condition. The employee must be able to perform official duties involving the use of public authority, which requires precision, even under pressure. This is a service profession involving frequent challenging customer service situations. Eligibility requirement: Knowledge of traffic and idling regulations necessary for the performance of the duties (Parking Enforcement Act, Section 12). Successful performance of the duties requires a valid driver's license for passenger cars. The selected person must present a health certificate (pre-employment medical examination, KVhL Section 7). The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
