AlphaSense is seeking a proactive and experienced Cloud Support Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this senior individual contributor role, you will independently diagnose and resolve complex issues spanning private cloud, search infrastructure, APIs, and agentic systems, often without needing engineering involvement to confirm root cause. You will leverage your expertise in cloud technologies, distributed systems and AI-driven search platforms to ensure smooth deployment, troubleshooting, and optimization of customer solutions. You will mentor more junior engineers, contribute to onboarding, and help raise the technical and operational bar of the team. Responsibilities include delivering exceptional technical support as the second line of defense for technical queries, troubleshooting SaaS and private cloud environments (AWS and Kubernetes), collaborating with cross-functional teams, leading recurring customer-facing rituals for strategic accounts, surfacing account-risk signals, building and updating knowledge resources, and driving process improvements. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience); proficiency with CLI tools (kubectl, awscli) and scripting (Python/JavaScript); experience with GraphQL, REST APIs and MCP troubleshooting; experience connecting LLMs to external tools and multi-agent systems; experience with alerting/logging (Prometheus, Grafana, FireHydrant). Preferred qualifications: networking experience; cloud platform experience (AWS) and Kubernetes/Docker; GraphQL and web APIs; Infrastructure as Code tools (Crossplane); experience with search tech and data stores (e.g., Vespa, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, MySQL); Java; knowledge of release lifecycles. Base compensation range listed as $111,000 USD annually; note that final offer varies by experience and may include bonus/equity. This role is remote in the United States. Responsibilities
- Deliver exceptional technical support as the second line of defense for technical queries
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SaaS and private cloud environments (AWS and Kubernetes)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Education teams
- Lead recurring customer-facing rituals (technical reports, live calls, technical reviews) for strategic accounts
- Surface account-risk signals and articulate the strategic importance of assigned accounts
- Contribute to knowledge sharing: create and update documentation, FAQs, and tutorials
- Identify and propose process improvements based on patterns in work and team metrics
- Be an advocate for customers in internal discussions to maximize product value
- Be an expert on AlphaSense product and stay updated on new features
- Build reusable AI systems for the team (prompt libraries, MCP-connected workflows)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- Proficiency in CLI tools (e.g., kubectl, awscli) and scripting skills in Python or JavaScript
- Understanding of GraphQL, REST APIs and MCP troubleshooting
- Experience connecting LLMs to external tools including multi-agent systems
- Experience with alerting/logging systems (Prometheus, Grafana, FireHydrant)
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to customers and team members
- Experience in managing customer support cases throughout their lifecycle (inquiry, triage, bug reporting, resolution)
- Ability to create and maintain runbooks for deeper troubleshooting and Level 1/2 support training
