We are inviting applications for a Doctoral Researcher (PhD student) position in Signal Processing. The research topic will lie in the intersection of statistical signal processing and optimization, with an emphasis on theory and algorithms. Key focus applications include array signal processing for sensing (e.g., radar, RF imaging, sonar) and wireless communications, where multisensor (MIMO) systems are, and will continue to be, a core technology. In this position, the candidate is expected to: carry out high-quality research on mutually agreed topics, publish / present results in top international signal processing and machine learning journals / conferences; complete a doctoral degree, including mandatory study credits required; assist in teaching tasks and undergraduate supervision (up to 5% of total working time). The work will be supervised by Assistant Professor Robin Rajamäki. Partial remote work (e.g., 1–2 days a week) is possible, as separately negotiated. The position is located in Tampere University, Finland. The starting date is October 1st, 2026, or as soon as possible, with the latest starting date January 1st, 2027. The salary will be based on the Finnish University Salary System, starting at 2,774 EUR/month.
