Retail Media Data Engineer

Primary location: HELSINKI We are looking for a Data Engineer to build the data foundations of our growing Retail Media business. In this role, you will work at the heart of the business and develop solutions that enable data-driven decision-making, analytics, reporting and the use of AI in a retail media environment. What is the role about? Retail Media is one of our fastest-growing business areas, where data is the foundation of everything we do. We continuously build data solutions for marketing, analytics, reporting and AI. We are looking for a Data Engineer to take ownership of the retail media data environment and develop solutions that help the business make better decisions. You will join your own functional team while working closely with the Martech team, analysts, data scientists and AI developers. The role gives you a significant opportunity to influence how marketing and retail media data is used in the future. The main purpose is to build and maintain data pipelines and their orchestration between different systems so that data flows reliably, on time and at high quality for analytics, reporting, AI and new business solutions. You will be responsible for implementing new pipelines, developing existing solutions and, when needed, database migrations, refactoring and documentation. Your working days will involve developing the data platform, technical problem-solving, building data models, ensuring data quality and collaborating with the business and other data professionals. Your objectives will be measured through technical quality, data quality, reliability, cost efficiency and OKRs, among other things. Our workplace is the Ässäkeskus office in Helsinki, where we meet colleagues two to three times a week. When work allows, you can also work remotely for part of the week. What kind of professional are we looking for? We are looking for someone with experience developing modern data platforms and a desire to take ownership of business-critical data solutions. You will succeed if you enjoy building data pipelines, solving technical problems and collaborating with the business and other data professionals. You will also use AI fluently and to a high standard to support your daily work. We hope you have: - Around five years of experience in Data Engineer roles or equivalent experience developing modern data platforms. - Experience designing, implementing and maintaining data pipelines, data integrations and data models in production environments. - Strong SQL and Python skills and experience ensuring data quality. - Practical experience in the AWS cloud environment and with a modern data stack, particularly Snowflake, dbt and orchestration tools such as Prefect, Airflow or Dagster. - An understanding of CI/CD practices, version control and infrastructure automation. - The ability to make technical decisions independently and consider their effects on data quality, reliability and end-user needs. - Good collaboration and communication skills, and the ability to work smoothly with analysts, data scientists, AI developers and business representatives. We also value experience with marketing data, retail media environments or Martech solutions, real-time data processing, data lake solutions and AI-enabled development approaches.
