Welder in Akaa – here, the quality of your work matters more than a stack of certificates Welder job ads often begin with a list of qualifications and certificates. In this search, what matters more is the quality of your welds and how you turn a drawing into a finished component. Our client in Akaa is looking for a MIG/MAG or TIG welder for factory work. You can read drawings confidently and see for yourself what needs doing next. You will have the chance to demonstrate your skills in practice. What kind of workplace will you join? The client is a contract manufacturer in the metal industry and has provided industrial subcontracting services since the 1990s. Its approximately 2,000-square-metre production facilities make frame structures, fasteners, guards, cladding panels and tanks for the machinery, plastics, glass, paper, electronics, food and packaging industries. Up to 80% of products reach international markets through customer companies, and production quality has also been audited by major Finnish engineering companies. Within the facility, a component moves from laser cutting and bending to welding and finishing. You can see where your work comes from and where it goes next, and your work stage has a direct effect on the finished product’s quality. What does the work involve? You will weld components in a factory environment with regular working hours and a predictable routine. The factory works with steel, stainless steel and aluminium. Material thicknesses range from 2 mm to a maximum of about 10–12 mm, so the job requires both the precision needed for thin materials and the ability to handle thicker components. The method can be either MIG/MAG or TIG welding. You do not need to master both, as long as you are skilled in the method you choose. The work is based on drawings: you read the dimensions and welds from them and complete the work accordingly from start to finish. What kind of professional are we looking for? We hope to find an established welding professional with the fundamentals in place. This is not a role where you start from the basics; you will use your skills from the outset. Understanding technical drawings is an essential requirement. Welding corner joints is not required, but experience with them is a significant advantage. If you have this experience, please mention it in your application. We especially want to emphasise one quality: initiative is essential in this job. We value someone who recognises what needs doing next, gets started without waiting for a separate instruction and takes responsibility for the quality of their own work. Excellent Finnish is also required. Your skills will be demonstrated in practice Certificates can tell us a lot, but a welder’s true skills show in the finished work. Your welding skills, ability to read drawings and other professional competence will therefore be assessed at the workplace during an onboarding period. This is fair to both parties: you can show what you can do while getting to know the work environment, duties and colleagues. Pay and working hours The pay for a skilled worker is €17–20 per hour, with the final pay determined by your skills and experience. The work is carried out at the factory on regular hours in two shifts. The start date will be agreed with the selected person. Applying We have made applying easy.
