In basic education there are about 18,500 pupils and the staff consists of over 2,000 professionals. There are 30 comprehensive schools in Tampere. We are seeking a part-time Buddhist religion teacher for the basic education period from 7 September 2026 to 5 June 2027. The position is located at Tampere Ahvenisjärvi School and may involve moving between schools within Tampere. The role requires strong pedagogical skills as the teaching groups consist of several different grade levels. At the start, teaching comprises about 2 yearly lessons. Eligibility follows the provisions of the Decree 986/1998 on the qualifications of staff in basic education. According to §9 a teacher providing basic education must have excellent spoken and written Finnish. The required qualifications, the subject studied (credits/points) and pedagogical studies should be clarified in as much detail as possible before the application deadline. In temporary positions, applicants who meet the qualifications may be considered even if they lack the specified qualifications. A diverse pedagogical competence and additional training supporting the role, development willingness, and good interaction and cooperation skills are considered favorable. Before taking up the post, the selected person must present a police background check for work with children under Act 504/2002 and the Criminal Records Act 770/1993 section 6(2). Part of our duties fall under the scope of the Infectious Diseases Act and we will check tuberculosis-related health declarations as required. We use a probationary period; in fixed-term employment the probationary period lasts at most half of the term. Salary is in accordance with OVTEs and consists of a job-specific salary, an annual discretionary supplement, and possible other pay supplements.
