Development Specialist

This is a multifaceted specialist role that builds new, develops the existing and brings people and actors together. The work is located at the interface of communications services and joint education, and involves close cooperation with congregations and diverse partners. A suitable higher education degree is required. The role comprises three complementary parts: development and data-informed leadership, networks and events, and physical education activities. Development and data-informed leadership uses research, feedback, and other information to improve congregations’ operations; it includes piloting and adopting new tools and methods, with AI utilization being a key area in the coming years. Networking and events involve collaboration with congregations, city, schools, associations and other partners, and turning ideas into practice. Physical education coordinates and develops camps and enhances the role of physical education in the church’s youth work. Requirements include proven ability to see large entities and implement plans practically. We value initiative, collaboration, curiosity and the ability to inspire others to improve their work. A theological education provides a strong knowledge base and supports working in church environments. The position is a permanent contract starting 1 January 2027 or by agreement. The salary follows church collective agreements and falls in salary group 601 (base salary 3,310.39 €/month; from 1.2.2027 base salary 3,383.22 €/month). In addition, experience allowance applies (between 124–436 €/month; from 1.2.2027 between 126.50–445.50 €). A six-month probation applies. Successful candidate must provide a medical certificate and a criminal record before starting. Membership in the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church is required.
