A metal processing plant operator, for example a smelter, smelting furnace worker or roller (metal industry), operates, monitors, adjusts and maintains machines and equipment used to process and reduce mineral ore and to refine, harden, roll and press metals. According to Job Market Finland, a smelter works in a smelter in the metal refining industry and controls and monitors the production of metals from ore concentrates or scrap metal. The training is the upper secondary vocational qualification in the process industry (valutuotevalmistaja), which can also be taken as an apprenticeship.
