As a fire station manager, you will be responsible for the fire station's personnel, equipment, and premises' continuous readiness. Your duties include personnel management such as work time monitoring, vacation planning, guiding staff, and administrative preparation and decision-making related to employment matters. The position is based at Mellunkylä fire station, with responsibilities beyond basic operations, including active and advanced first response activities (medicinal drugs). You will be responsible for both vessel operations and container equipment, as well as advanced emergency medical services and specialized unit activities. The fire station manager acts as a supervisor for firefighters, paramedics, and your own shift team, so personnel management is prominent. During on-call shifts, you will serve as the shift supervisor and rescue unit leader. Your tasks include ensuring the functionality of the fire station, both personnel and operations. The role requires independence in familiarizing yourself with matters and guiding staff, initiative, and strong self-leadership. To reach other shift personnel, you will also work office days alongside on-call duties. Therefore, you must be able to plan your working hours independently, splitting shifts and office work within given limits. Your duties also include other tasks assigned by a supervisor. Your immediate supervisor is the fire chief. Working hours: An exceptional schedule with a 42-hour week, 24-hour shifts. The start date is September 2026. The position is subject to a six-month probation period and the collective agreement according to HYVTES TS appendix. Helsinki City is a stable and reliable employer. Eligibility requirements include: - The requirement for sub-officer from the Rescue Act 407/2011, section 6. - The person must be physically fit for the task and have a valid Firefit index of 3.0 (physical fitness test). - A valid minimum BC-class driving license. - Consent to security clearance (Security Clearance Act 726/2014) and drug testing during the employment interview. - Good spoken and written Finnish skills. The appointment is conditional upon submitting a health statement and approved security clearance.
