We are developing and building a new management structure for early childhood education in Helsinki to strengthen work well-being and pedagogical leadership. Join us in developing something new! As an assistant director, you will lead early childhood education and preschool education in accordance with laws, regulations, and city strategies, together with the head of the daycare. Your duties include planning, implementing, evaluating, and developing pedagogical work according to early childhood and preschool curricula. You will act as the operational partner to the daycare director and ensure smooth daily operations. In staff management, you will oversee onboarding processes and lead the implementation of onboarding plans, participate in daily staffing arrangements, and assist in shift planning and recruitment with the director. The role is versatile and requires organizational skills. We value interest in leadership and the ability to promote participation and cooperation. The early childhood education unit consists of two locations in Meilahti and Pikku Huopalahti, emphasizing positive pedagogy, play, joy, and a safe atmosphere. The focus is on indoor and outdoor pedagogy, with opportunities provided by Helsinki Central Park and Seurasaari. We require that you have the qualification according to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) or a transitional provision (Section 75) with a Bachelor's degree in Education, a suitable university of applied sciences degree, or an equivalent lower secondary level degree, e.g., kindergarten teacher or social educator (Act 272/2005 and Regulation 608/2005). Recognition of foreign qualifications by the Finnish National Agency for Education also fulfills the qualification requirement. Additionally, good oral and written skills in Finnish are required. The selected person must present a valid criminal background check for working with children (504/2002). A tuberculosis clearance for working with underage children will be checked (Communicable Diseases Act § 55).
