Postdoktor inom immunologi

A fixed-term postdoctoral position is available in the Immunology research team led by Professor Marko Salmi in the Faculty of Medicine. The project is funded by the Jane and Aatos Erkkö Foundation. The Salmi Lab investigates initiation of immune responses in inflammation, cancer and vaccination. Key interests include antigen trafficking from peripheral tissues to lymph nodes via lymphatics, the role of stromal cells in lymph node immune responses, differentiation and function of myeloid cells, and immunological biomarkers of inflammation and cancer. The project uses microscopy-based imaging, flow cytometry, single-cell analyses, and functional immunological analyses in experimental models. The team operates in MediCity at Turku University, and is part of the InFLAMES flagship. The role involves studying immune response regulation in lymph nodes, cell- and molecule-level mechanisms of antigen movement and lymph node endothelial and resident cell interactions, and aims to develop methods to locally modulate immune responses in cancer and inflammatory diseases and during vaccination. Primary work is conducted on-site at Turku campus. Responsibilities include performing laboratory experiments (including in vivo models), tissue and cell sample analysis with imaging and omics technologies, developing new methods, supervising PhD students and other trainees, and writing scientific articles. It is also possible to develop new projects and approaches and participate in teaching to support career development after the postdoctoral phase.
