Porvoo City’s Finnish-language basic education and upper secondary education services are seeking two (2) special education teachers for fixed-term positions from August 10, 2026, to June 5, 2027. The placement is at Pääskytie School. At Pääskytie School, education is provided for grades 7-9. The school is located on the western shore of Porvoo, amidst farmland scenery. Approximately 600 students attend the school, and 70 adults work with them daily. The school's operating principle is to provide high-quality education, respecting individual differences, in a modern and safe learning environment. Pääskytie School offers specialized physical education. The school management team includes the principal, deputy principal, and two assistant principals. Additionally, the entire staff actively participates in school development. The primary duties of the special education teacher include providing individual support for students in general education, teaching in special classes, language support teaching, and supporting school dropouts. Qualification as a subject teacher is considered an advantage. Applicants are expected to describe the following in their application, which are relevant for selection: - Experience in flexible planning, implementation, and assessment of teaching - Good cooperation and interaction skills, and a solution-oriented approach - Experience in teamwork - Proficiency in language-aware teaching - Experience in co-teaching and school community development - Competence in using digital applications and learning environments required for the role - Experience in cooperation with various stakeholders, e.g., child protection, and ideas for developing collaboration. Selection of interviewees will be based on applications. Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). The selected candidate must have a special education teacher qualification. In the absence of qualified applicants, a non-qualified candidate may be considered. Original certificates proving qualification must be presented during the interview. Salary is determined according to the municipal collective agreement for education. The appointee must present a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002, section 3). The trial period is half the length of the employment. Join us in shaping the future!
