Youth Worker

Youth services are involved in the daily lives of young people in youth centers, events, schools and online. They offer a range of leisure and recreation services for children and youth, self-directed activities and targeted youth work. Activities include open space activities, school cooperation, workshop activities, individual and group work, outreach work as well as trips and camps. The youth services operate 11 facilities across the city. We seek three outreach youth workers. Two of the positions are permanent and one is a temporary position until May 14, 2027. Start dates as agreed, as soon as possible. All positions involve statutory and youth outreach duties, individual and group guidance, and working in various youth environments. Permanent positions emphasize regional outreach work. All positions include evening work and may involve weekend work. Outreach work aims to reach young people under 29 who are outside employment, education and services, and to provide early support and prevent problems, mostly in the youths’ own environments such as youth services and networks, digital platforms, youth centers and various group activities. Your role as an outreach youth worker is central to preventing youth exclusion. You will meet and support those in need who do not use existing services or have not received the help they need. Client work is voluntary and based on trust-based cooperation. You will guide youths to the services they need and support them in using them. In regional outreach work you will travel to areas where youths spend time in public and semi-public spaces. All outreach workers participate in the Aikalisä program, which provides support and guidance to all conscripts, reservists and civilian service-aged youths.
