As a personal assistant, your most important task is to support our client’s preferred way of life and make everyday activities run smoothly, both at the client’s home and outside it. You assist with ordinary daily activities that the client would do themselves but cannot manage alone because of a disability or illness. You help ensure that our client receives the best possible support, can live life on their own terms, and can enjoy an active everyday life as part of a community. Tasks may include assisting with mobility, household work, cooking, hobbies, personal hygiene, social visits, errands, or activities at school and at work. The pay for the role follows the collective agreement for private social services, grade G16A. The employment is on an as-needed, on-call basis and paid by the hour, so you can work according to your own schedule. You work with one client at a time, and the number of hours varies depending on the client. You may have more than one client if you wish. We do not require specific education or previous experience; what matters most is a genuine interest in disability support and assisting others. You want to support the client’s preferred way of life, follow their instructions and respect their right to self-determination. People selected for the role must have the vaccination protection required under the Communicable Diseases Act.
