Industry Professor

The Industry Professor position is a fixed-term and part-time appointment hosted by Tampere University, in collaboration with Tampere University of Applied Sciences. The role aims to strengthen growth, commercialization expertise and customer-centric value creation through teaching, research and company collaboration. The successful candidate will combine practical business experience with research-minded thinking and impactful collaboration with companies to promote growth strategies, customer value creation, marketing and commercialization processes, and business model development. Responsibilities include designing and delivering growth, commercialization and customer-oriented business teaching; advancing new research findings relevant to growth strategies, customer value creation, marketing and commercialization processes; developing work-integrated pedagogical solutions (case teaching, company projects, guest lectures, mentoring); strengthening students’ readiness for working life, entrepreneurship and business thinking; building and leveraging networks with industry and stakeholders to support teaching, research and societal impact; participating in planning and delivering continuous learning services relevant to the field; and increasing the department’s visibility and societal impact through expert work, seminars, collaborations and public discourse. Requirements include a suitable doctoral degree or exceptionally high level of expertise in the field, notable achievements in business life, public sector or third sector, extensive business experience, and excellent Finnish and English language skills, plus strong presentation skills. Desirable: experience in strategic marketing leadership, proven ability to create and develop collaborative networks, active national or international activity in the field. The position is offered for three years starting 1 November 2026 (part-time 40% or as agreed). The contract follows the collective agreement at university level with a starting salary of approximately 6,500 EUR per month for a full-time position.
