CNC Machinist

Would you like to help manufacture the world's best drilling machines? We are now seeking a CNC machinist for permanent employment in Tampere, working in our modern and developing production environment. We are looking for people with different machining backgrounds, so your experience may be in CNC turning, machining centres or CNC grinding, for example. We value versatile machining skills, technical interest and a desire to develop your professional skills as part of a skilled production team. The Drilling Tools technology unit belongs to the Surface Drilling division and is responsible for the design, product development and manufacture of the drilling machine, the most important component of Sandvik drilling equipment. A drilling machine must withstand hundreds of millions of impacts in challenging conditions over its service life, which is why quality, reliability and productivity are the cornerstones of our work. Your duties You will work in the manufacture of hydraulic rock-drill components using CNC-controlled machine tools. Your duties include operating CNC machines, making settings and monitoring production; changing tools and fixtures; measuring components and ensuring quality; carrying out auxiliary machine tasks; ensuring smooth production; and continuously developing operations together with the production team. Our modern machine fleet includes, among other equipment, twin-spindle and four- and five-axis CNC machines. Your background You are a metalworking professional with experience working with CNC machine tools and their control systems. We particularly value experience in CNC turning, machining centres or CNC grinding; knowledge of CNC control systems; the ability to read technical drawings; skill in using measuring instruments; and an independent and responsible approach to work. Previous experience manufacturing drilling-machine components or carrying out demanding machining is an advantage, but above all we are looking for a motivated person who wants to learn new things and develop in a production environment that uses advanced technology.
