About the role

Responsibilities: 1. Assist with day-to-day operations, including procurement, staff travel, payment, and event organization for the Institute in accordance with UN Financial Rules and Regulations and UNU procedures. 2. Support effective travel management in full compliance with UN rules, UNU procedures, and Institute policies. 3. Assist procurement activities including solicitation, procurement plans, and vendor management in compliance with UN rules and UNU policies. 4. Support asset management per policy, including asset registration and disposal. 5. Assist in preparing contractual agreements with institutions. 6. Perform other duties as assigned. Education: High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree. Skills: Excel, PeopleSoft is an asset. Language: English and Japanese required. Remuneration: attractive tax-exempt package; 30 days leave; 1-year initial contract with renewal. Start: 1 October 2026. How to apply and deadlines provided.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with day-to-day operations including procurement, staff travel, payment, and event organization
  • Liaise with UNU Centre Administration and provide technical advice on policies and procedures
  • Implement buyer profile functions in the ERP system
  • Ensure accurate supporting documents for online filing
  • Travel management focal point and travel operator in ERP system
  • Assist procurement activities including preparation of tender documents
  • Asset management support including asset registration and disposal
  • Prepare contractual agreements and track payments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of relevant working experience
  • Demonstrated Excel skills and/or experience with productivity software
  • Familiarity with the UN system and current issues related to sustainability is an advantage
  • Ability to efficiently manage a variable workload
  • Good team player with strong interpersonal skills in multicultural environments
