Lead Mechanical Design Engineer

Take technical responsibility and lead expertise in customers’ most demanding projects. Are you beyond senior level and ready to take on a greater role in both technology and customer relations? We are looking for a lead-level mechanical design engineer in Tampere to work with mobile machinery and industrial equipment design. Our customers are Finnish and international manufacturers whose machines and equipment do real work in real conditions. In the lead role, you do more than design: you solve the toughest technical problems, take technical responsibility for projects and develop the way the whole team works. What you do day to day - Take technical responsibility in projects and solve demanding special problems for which there is no ready-made model. - Advise customers and colleagues on mechanical design and develop other engineers’ expertise. - Identify customer needs and present Etteplan’s expertise: prepare cost estimates and assess resources and schedules. - Ensure best practices are used in design tools, PDM and processes. - Actively follow developments in your field and bring new solutions to customers. - Work closely with the analysis team and guide the application of FEA results to structures. - The primary tools are NX and Catia. Creo and SolidWorks skills are an advantage. You are a good candidate if - You have an MSc or UAS degree in mechanical engineering and extensive experience in demanding machine and equipment design. - Welded structures, hydraulics and dynamic loads are deeply familiar to you. - You have calculation and dimensioning skills: you can dimension structures and use strength analysis to support design. - You have worked as a technical owner, lead or mentor, though not necessarily as a manager. - You can speak with both engineers and buyers and understand what the customer truly benefits from. - You communicate in both Finnish and English. The typical monthly salary for this role is €4,500–€5,300, depending on your experience and the demands of the position. Interested?
