Sunshine Early Learning Centre is seeking a daycare director for its new early childhood education unit in Hervantajärvi, Tampere. Are you an early childhood education and leadership professional excited about establishing a new unit? Sunshine Hervantajärvi will open in August 2026. The wooden, sensory-friendly building designed according to early childhood education principles will provide space for eight groups and 132 children. Its natural location and modern park-like play area offer excellent opportunities for creative pedagogical activities and outdoor movement. The Hervantajärvi daycare operates in both Finnish and English. In bilingual groups, English is integrated into daily activities through singing, playing, and rhymes, while activities are otherwise in Finnish. In addition to bilingual groups, fully English-speaking groups will also operate. We are looking for an ambitious early childhood education and leadership professional genuinely interested in establishing a new unit, who enjoys working with families and staff, and is motivated to develop operational models that support the company's strategy in the long term. As a daycare director, your responsibilities include managing client relationships, planned pedagogical leadership, budgeting, and high-quality staff management and support. The role requires excellent cooperation and communication skills. You need sufficient English language skills for daily interactions with client families and to lead an international team. You will be supported by your supervisor, other daycare directors, the pedagogical director, business manager, HR, and support services, with whom you will work closely. Qualifications: According to the Early Childhood Education Act (540/2018) section 31, from January 1, 2030, the qualification requirement for a daycare director is a qualification as an early childhood education teacher (section 26) or a social pedagogue in early childhood education (section 27), a master's degree in education, and sufficient leadership skills. Before section 31 comes into force, qualification requirements are either as an early childhood education teacher or a social pedagogue in early childhood education, a master's degree in education, and sufficient leadership skills (section 74). Transition provisions (section 75) also apply.
