Welcome to the hospital chemist position at the HUS Diagnostic Center Automation Laboratory! HUS Diagnostic Center is Finland's leading provider of clinical laboratory and imaging services. Our primary area of operation is the specialized healthcare of the HUS consortium and the primary healthcare of the welfare areas belonging to HUS. We also handle laboratory and imaging services for the Kymenlaakso and South Karelia welfare areas. We operate across eight medical specialties. We are responsible nationally for several highly specialized tests, as well as research and education at university hospitals. Diagnostic tests play a central role in confirming, ruling out, treating, monitoring, and screening for diseases. Approximately 3,300 laboratory and imaging specialists work at over 150 locations within HUS Diagnostic Center. The Clinical Chemistry department functions are located in Meilahti and nine other hospitals providing 24/7 emergency services. The department produces nearly 20 million laboratory tests annually and is accredited according to standard SFS-EN ISO 15189:2022. Our goal is to continuously develop our services according to customer needs, following lean principles. We are seeking a hospital chemist for the Clinical Chemistry Automation Laboratory at HUSLAB building. The role may include responsibilities as a specialist in Clinical Chemistry, with content tailored to interest, expertise, and organizational needs. Successful performance in this role requires versatile skills and solid experience in clinical chemistry and hematology analytics, quality management, the ability to work independently, and an interest in developing customer-oriented laboratory services. Previous experience in emergency analytics at a university hospital laboratory, familiarity with various automation solutions, intermediary information systems controlling these, and developing automated processes are considered advantageous. The job requires independent problem-solving skills, with an emphasis on applying broad knowledge. The ability to prioritize, manage one's own work under pressure, and maintain a solution-oriented approach are essential. The working style should be precise and careful, yet capable of progressing tasks swiftly and purposefully. We are looking for a person with excellent teamwork and communication skills, a flexible, proactive, and development-oriented work attitude. A doctoral degree (FT) is considered an advantage. The start date is August 1, 2026, or by agreement. The salary for this position ranges from €5,125 to €5,723.76 per month, with possible experience and other allowances.
