We are hiring a social worker for a permanent position at the Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia. The initial placement is in the social services customer and service guidance unit, Digi-Helpdesk, starting from 31 August 2026. The duties in customer and service guidance include providing advice and information via phone and chat about social security, support, and benefits, primarily for individuals over 65 years old. The social worker acts as a link between social services and the client's daily life and can, if necessary, escalate the client's case. The work mainly focuses on issues concerning individuals over 65, but later the employee will also familiarize themselves with tasks related to other service lines involving children, adults, and clients of disability services. We value good listening, negotiation, motivation, and problem-solving skills, as well as knowledge of the social and health care service system, legislation, and social security, especially regarding elderly care and their needs. The work is primarily remote, with some work on-site at Vaasa Central Hospital. During orientation, the employee is expected to be physically present more often at Vaasa Central Hospital. Since the work is mainly remote, the selected candidate can reside in the northern, central, or southern region but must be able to come to the Vaasa office on certain days weekly. Orientation will mainly take place in Vaasa in September, but during orientation, the selected candidate must be able to travel between the northern, central, and southern regions to participate in training with the elderly center staff. Interviews will be arranged during the application period. Qualifications: - Licensed social worker according to the Act on Social Welfare Professionals (817/2015, § 8). - Good oral and satisfactory written skills in both national languages of Finland. The selected candidate must have valid vaccination protection according to the Communicable Diseases Act (1227/2016) § 48. Additionally, before starting the position, the candidate must submit a medical certificate of health. A trial period applies.
