Our client is strengthening their expertise in control room design, HMI solutions, and technical user interface design due to increasing project workload. In this role, you will work on demanding modernization and development projects in industry, where safety, usability, and technical quality are central. The position is suitable if you have experience in industrial user interfaces, automation systems, control room solutions, or process industry design projects. This role is not purely for UX designers or automation engineers, but for a technically strong design professional who understands the importance of user interfaces for operator work, safe operation, and decision-making. You will work as part of an experienced control room design team. The team handles control room design, HMI design, and human factors and usability design for energy and power plant environments. You will manage multiple parallel projects and be responsible for the progress of your own design packages. This role combines technical design, industrial automation, HMI design, and human factors thinking. Additionally, we offer: - Support from an experienced and knowledgeable team - Hybrid work model, with at least about 2 days per week in the office - Permanent employment contract with Academic Work, with the potential for recruitment to the client’s organization during 2027-2028 - Salary range approximately 5,000–6,500 €/month depending on experience Job Tasks In this role, you will participate in the design of industrial control room and user interface solutions at various stages. Tasks include defining requirements, establishing design principles, producing technical documentation, designing user interface modifications, and evaluating suppliers’ work. This is not a project manager role, but you are expected to take responsibility for your own design packages. Multiple projects will be ongoing simultaneously, so systematic, proactive work and the ability to follow progress with various stakeholders are emphasized. - Design of industrial HMI and user interface solutions for energy industry environments - Definition, design, and documentation of control room and user interface modifications - Preparation of requirement specifications, work plans, reports, and other technical documentation - Reading and utilizing technical drawings, system descriptions, and project documentation in design work - Considering design principles, usability, and operability in HMI solutions - Evaluation of supplier plans and implementations, ensuring quality - Collaboration with automation specialists, project teams, suppliers, operators, and other stakeholders - Supporting safety-critical operation from usability, visibility, and operator work perspectives We are looking for A person with a strong technical design background and experience in industrial user interfaces, automation systems, control room environments, or process industry design projects. You may have a background as an automation engineer, I&C designer, HMI designer, control room designer, process automation specialist, or other expert working in industrial automation and user interfaces. We expect you to have: - Appropriate technical education, e.g., automation, electrical, energy, process, or I&C engineering - Experience in industrial design projects, e.g., energy, process, paper, chemical, or other demanding industrial environments - Understanding of industrial user interfaces, HMI solutions, control room solutions, or automation systems - Ability to read and understand technical drawings, system descriptions, and project documentation - Good documentation and reporting skills - Systematic and precise working approach - Ability to manage multiple tasks and actively follow progress - Fluent Finnish and English skills Additional advantages include - Experience in implementing user interfaces in industrial environments - Experience in control room design or modernization of control room solutions - Experience in power plants, energy, or safety-critical environments - Understanding of human factors engineering principles, usability, ergonomics, or operator support - Experience in requirement specification, supplier collaboration, and supplier evaluation - Experience in environments governed by standards, regulatory requirements, and high documentation levels Practical details - Location: Espoo. The role includes visits to client’s power plant and project sites in Finland. - Work model: Hybrid, with at least about 2 days per week in the office. Depending on project situation, working on-site or at customer sites may occasionally require longer periods. - Start: As soon as possible, according to safety clearance and onboarding schedule. - Contract: Permanent consulting contract with the aim of possible recruitment to the client’s organization. - Salary: Approximately 5,000–6,500 €/month depending on skills and experience. - Security clearance: The role requires an approved security clearance.   • Valvomo- ja käyttöliittymämuutosten määrittely, suunnittelu ja dokumentointi.
  • Vaatimusmäärittelyjen, työsuunnitelmien, raporttien ja muun teknisen dokumentaation laatiminen.
  • Teknisten piirustusten, järjestelmäkuvausten ja projektidokumentaation lukeminen ja hyödyntäminen suunnittelussa.
  • Suunnitteluperiaatteiden, käytettävyyden ja operoitavuuden huomioiminen HMI-ratkaisuissa.
  • Toimittajien suunnitelmien ja toteutusten arviointi sekä laadun varmistaminen.
  • Yhteistyö automaatioasiantuntijoiden, projektitiimien, toimittajien, operaattorien ja muiden sidosryhmien kanssa.
  • Turvallisuuskriittisen operoinnin tukeminen käytettävyyden, havaittavuuden ja operaattorin työn näkökulmasta.

Vaatimukset

  • Vahva tekninen suunnittelutausta ja kokemus teollisista käyttöliittymistä, automaatiojärjestelmistä, valvomoympäristöistä tai prosessiteollisuuden suunnitteluprojekteista.
