We are seeking an experienced psychologist for a one-year fixed-term position at HUS Psychiatry, in the digital and psychosocial treatment line at Lohja Psychological Unit. This is an extended psychologist role, piloted at HUS Psychiatry. The position is planned to be made permanent later. The role is based at Lohja adult psychiatric ward, a 24-bed closed general and acute psychiatric ward. The ward treats patients with all diagnoses and disorders, with an active development approach. Current key development projects include a unique family placement service serving the entire HUS area, where a mother needing psychiatric inpatient care can have her infant under one year old stay on the ward with a relative responsible for the child's care. The goal is to support early interaction and reduce barriers to inpatient care when necessary for the mother’s health. Additionally, the ward is implementing Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) systematically in collaboration with other wards in the line. The Western Uusimaa line has been at the forefront of implementing the hospitalist model at HUS Psychiatry. The ward’s activities are supported by outpatient teams providing evidence-based transdiagnostic treatments, including family work, DBT, and perinatal psychiatry. In the extended role, the psychologist plays a central role in treatment planning, monitoring, and evaluation. Tasks include participating in the development, updating, and follow-up of rehabilitation and treatment plans, conducting case formulations supporting treatment, and performing broader structured assessments as needed. The role also involves documenting interim and final evaluations of treatment progress and preparing referrals for continued care. The work is carried out in close collaboration with the treating physician. The position requires interest in ward work, development, and multidisciplinary collaboration, as well as the ability to make independent decisions. Presence on the ward is generally required. We offer a versatile and evolving role, with opportunities to participate in developing new operational models. Supportive teams and the psychology unit, regular psychologist-physician meetings, and the possibility to consult experienced psychologists in the extended role are available. Additionally, we provide free HUS bus transportation from the Helsinki metropolitan area to Lohja and back. Salary is determined according to HUS salary system.
