Ylivieska has nine elementary schools, one combined school, and one middle school. All elementary schools provide education for children in grades 1-6, and some also offer preschool education. The preschool education locations are decided annually based on applications. Kaisaniemi Middle School teaches grades 7-9. Taanila School is a combined school for grades 0-9. In Ylivieska, approximately 1500 elementary school children (including preschoolers) and about 700 middle school students are enrolled. As a substitute, you can specify your preferred schools. Longer-term substitutes are also recruited through separate applications, so follow the open job positions of the City of Ylivieska. Applicants are responsible for updating their application and availability information in the register. Keeping contact and availability information up to date is a prerequisite for being offered substitute positions. The educational requirement is a qualification as a school assistant, practical nurse, or other suitable education. Job duties may also include guiding afternoon activities, small groups, and general education students. The terms of employment and salary are determined according to the Collective Agreement for Municipal Employees (KVTES). Payment for school assistant work may be suspended during school holidays if the employer cannot assign other work. A criminal record extract as specified in Section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act must be presented if the total duration of substitutes exceeds three months within a year.
