We are seeking four (4) specialist doctors for fixed-term positions at the Oulu University Hospital Surgery and Anesthesia Center. The positions start according to agreement and last until December 31, 2026. The specialist doctor positions are targeted at various clinical areas within the Surgery and Anesthesia competence center. During the interview, applicants can express their preferences regarding the area or areas of expertise they wish to work in. Our areas of expertise are: 1. Orthopedic, trauma, neuro-, plastic, and hand surgery anesthesia (KOVO) 2. Vascular surgery, gastroenterology, gynecology, obstetrics, and urology anesthesia (PEHMO) 3. Sensory organ diseases and pediatric anesthesia (AISLA) 4. Anesthesia monitoring and perioperative management, as well as acute pain management (LAPA) 5. A broad role as a versatile team member, with placements varying across different areas of expertise Successful performance in the role requires diverse skills. The specialist doctor has a duty to participate in the orientation, guidance, and training of residents. The positions include on-call duties. We value good communication and collaboration skills, as well as an active approach to work development. Additional training or certification relevant to the role, and experience as a specialist doctor, are considered advantages. We also require the ability to work across different areas of expertise. Eligibility for the specialist doctor position requires authorization or license to practice medicine as per the Act on Health Care Professionals 559/94, and specialist qualification in a relevant field. Suitable specialties include anesthesiology or anesthesiology and intensive care. We will verify original certificates and employment records during the interview. Applicants must be registered in the Terhikki register maintained by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health. The selected candidate must provide a medical statement of health before starting the role (Act on Municipal and Wellbeing Services 7 §). We apply a trial period of up to 6 months for employment relationships. The trial period can be up to half of the employment duration in fixed-term contracts shorter than 12 months.
