We are seeking a part-time teacher for preparatory education in basic education for the period from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. You will serve as the responsible teacher for preparatory education in basic education and coordinate the overall support for students in need of additional instruction. Your tasks include planning, implementing, and evaluating language and subject-specific support based on individual student needs in collaboration with other teachers and specialists. Responsibilities of the preparatory education teacher include: - Coordinating, implementing, and monitoring additional instruction together with teachers working with the student - Planning and delivering additional instruction, especially in science subjects, mathematics, natural sciences, and languages if needed - Strengthening academic language, languages of different disciplines, and study skills - Implementing teaching flexibly in various formats (e.g., co-teaching, small group instruction, individual guidance) - Regularly monitoring and assessing the student's learning, language skills, and progress in studies - Close collaboration with preparatory education, basic education, S2 instruction, special education, student counseling, and guardians - Ensuring smooth transitions between phases of education Work primarily takes place at Merikatu School, but some lessons may be directed at students transitioning from preparatory education to the 6th grade at city elementary schools. Applicants are expected to have experience supporting multilingual students, particularly in strengthening language skills related to studying and knowledge areas. Additionally, skills in assessing students' language proficiency and study readiness, as well as experience in co-teaching and parallel teaching, are required. Qualifications: Qualifications are determined according to the decree on the qualifications of education personnel (986/1998). A qualification for teaching basic or upper secondary education is required. In the absence of qualified applicants, the position may be filled by a person without the required degree. Original certificates proving qualifications must be presented during the interview. Employment relationship: Salary and working conditions are governed by the Local Government Collective Agreement for Education Personnel (OVTES). The basic salary for teachers in Raahe exceeds the salary scale specified in OVTES. Within fixed-term employment, a trial period of up to half of the employment duration is applied.
