We are now seeking an experienced and business-oriented lawyer to take a key role in legal matters related to payment services, bank accounts, card payments, and open banking. In this position, you will not only be an advisor but also a strategic partner in an organization small enough to give you a comprehensive overview, yet advanced enough to handle complex and specialized legal issues. Your responsibilities will include: Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating complex agreements, terms, and other legal documents related to the bank’s payment and account operations. Providing qualified legal advice on payment services, card payments, open banking, and related areas. Contributing to the development of new products, services, and digital customer solutions. Monitoring, analyzing, and implementing new regulations in the payment sector, including PSD2, PSD3, and other relevant EU legislation. Representing the legal function in strategic initiatives, change projects, and cross-functional working groups. Representing the bank in external industry forums, interest groups, and relevant networks. Within the department’s mandate, you will meet the legal needs of the group, which means you will have the opportunity to work across multiple jurisdictions, serving clients in both the Finnish and Swedish markets, as well as other international legal areas often related to retail banking law. The position is a permanent employment based in Mariehamn, Helsinki, or Stockholm. Your background likely includes: Deep knowledge of payment services, bank accounts, and card payments. Good understanding of open banking, third-party providers, and the evolving European payment landscape. Experience translating complex regulations into practical and business-oriented solutions. Ability to independently drive issues and build trust with various stakeholders. As a person, you are analytical, solution-oriented, and confident in your profession. You combine legal precision with good judgment and collaborate easily with colleagues from different parts of the organization. Your qualifications We believe you hold a law degree or equivalent university degree, with several years of legal experience within banking, financial services, or other regulated activities. The internal working language is Swedish, and you should have good English skills. Finnish language skills are an advantage.
