Junior Project Engineer, Turku / Tampere - Academic Work

In this role, you will dive directly into an international industrial project at the core, with a steep learning curve guaranteed. You will work with our client company's marine projects during the tender phase, which will start in the fall. Your main task is to analyze and classify the client's system requirements and technical standards, and to formulate derived requirements. You will work closely with experienced experts in the team. Your closest support and supervisor will be a marine engineering specialist with over 20 years of experience in the field. This is an excellent opportunity to understand how large integration projects operate, how responsibilities and obligations are shared within a global supplier network, and how to transition towards modern, requirement-based specifications. Work Tasks - Standards and Directive Mapping: Identify, search for, and classify the standards needed for the project (approximately 50 different documents) from both internal and external sources, ensuring their latest versions. - AI-assisted Analysis: Utilize AI tools (such as Microsoft Copilot) to review extensive standards and directives, aiming to identify and anticipate major cost impacts and contractual issues. - Translation into Derived Requirements: Review the client's extensive requirement matrix (marine technical requirements) and create verifiable, Finnish-language derived requirements based on it – clearly defining what each requirement practically means from the shipyard or supplier's perspective. - Project Folder Maintenance: Compile and archive identified materials into a clear package for use by the project team. We are looking for - Educational Background: You are nearing the end of your studies or a recent graduate from a university (Master's/Engineer). Suitable fields include marine engineering/maritime technology (a major advantage), mechanical engineering, electrical or automation engineering. - Understanding of Terminology: You master technical terminology, and practical understanding of ship, shipyard, or other heavy industry environments is considered an advantage. - AI Skills: You have good basic skills and, above all, the courage to experiment with and utilize AI (e.g., Copilot) for analyzing text masses and documents. - Language Skills: Fluent Finnish (as derived requirements are made in Finnish), and English is necessary for understanding international standards.
