We are currently hiring a permanent Chief Physician for the geriatric outpatient clinic at Sairaala Nova in Jyväskylä. The Central Finland Wellbeing Services County merged the units of geriatric specialized care and primary health care on May 1, 2026, creating opportunities for a more diverse role in geriatrics. A significant part of the outpatient clinic's work involves caring for patients with memory disorders. In addition to basic memory work, the geriatric outpatient clinic performs complex memory diagnostics with specialized examinations. Memory work includes acting as a consultant and partner for the area's memory nurses and coordinators. The geriatrics team routinely manages hip fracture patients on weekdays, and these patients are also invited for comprehensive assessment after hip fractures. Patients are referred to the geriatric outpatient clinic for comprehensive geriatric assessment pre- or post-operatively, before major planned surgery, or prior to cancer treatments. Clinical work is diverse and includes outpatient care, consultations, and guidance and training for residents. There is an opportunity to combine tasks from basic memory diagnostics to complex hospital geriatrics consultations, depending on personal interest and training. Collaboration with regional memory professionals, other specialties, and various professional groups is good, and the work of a geriatrician is valued. As a Chief Physician, you will participate in the daily management of the unit, as well as in planning and developing geriatric services in collaboration with the chief physician. Responsibilities include maintaining care pathways and processes, training residents and other staff, and developing cooperation with other regional actors. You will work as a partner and, if necessary, as a deputy to the chief physician. We offer a leadership role in an evolving and integrated geriatric service package, the opportunity to influence operational direction and develop new models, close collaboration with the chief physician and multidisciplinary network, as well as a respected expert role and good opportunities for professional development. The role combines clinical expertise and administrative responsibility and can be tailored according to your skills and interests. The base salary for the position is €7,340/month according to the career ladder salary model, with possible additional compensation. We primarily seek full-time applicants, but part-time work is also possible.
