Työtehtävän kuvaus
We are seeking two university lecturers in law for fixed-term employment from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2031. The lecturers' tasks broadly include teaching various legal disciplines within the Notary Education Program. The duties involve providing undergraduate teaching and supervising theses within the Notary Education Program. Additionally, lecturers participate in planning and developing teaching and learning materials, as well as handling jointly agreed administrative and supervisory tasks. According to the University of Helsinki's regulations, candidates must hold a suitable higher university degree and have teaching experience. Pedagogical training, skills in producing learning materials, and the ability to teach and develop instruction in diverse ways are especially valued. According to the University Act (770/2009), those performing university teaching and research duties must be proficient in either Finnish or Swedish, the language of instruction. At least one of the teaching tasks will be conducted in Finnish. The other may be in Swedish, but candidates must demonstrate at least satisfactory oral and written proficiency in the second national language. Those who have not received their education in Finland in Finnish or Swedish may be granted an exemption from Swedish language requirements. Successful performance in the role also requires good command of English. When evaluating applicants' merits, teaching experience, pedagogical training, ability to produce learning materials, other achievements in teaching, and, if applicable, a teaching demonstration are considered. Experience in teaching university students and adult learners in Finland and abroad, as well as diverse language skills, are regarded as merits. The salary for the position is based on level 5 of the university salary system for teaching and research staff, with an additional performance-based component. As of June 1, 2026, the gross monthly salary is approximately €3,900–€4,100 at the start of employment. The positions are filled with a six-month probationary period.
