Tehtävänkuvaus
The City of Kemijärvi manages the North Lapland Environmental Health Cooperation Area. The cooperation area includes the City of Kemijärvi and the municipalities of Pelkosenniemi, Savukoski, and Salla. The unit also handles regional environmental protection tasks. The Environmental Health Director - Municipal Veterinarian acts as the unit's operational manager, responsible for operations, and leads and develops activities under the authority of the city council, city manager, and committee. The position involves 40% unit management and 60% practical veterinary work, with potential adjustments to focus areas later as needed. You will lead a small but agile team. The workplace is located in Savukoski, which has well-equipped reception facilities. The role includes on-call duties within a five-veterinarian on-call circle. The practical work is small-animal dominated mixed practice, with reindeer work during the fall and winter seasons. Salary and employment terms are determined according to KVTES. Qualifications include a licensed veterinarian degree in Finland. Additionally, veterinarians licensed under the Veterinary Practice Act (29/2000) from other EU/EEA countries must present a certificate of eligibility from the Food Authority for the Environmental Health Director - Municipal Veterinarian position. The person responsible for environmental health activities should also have sufficient experience and expertise in implementing environmental health tasks (Health Care Act 1326/2010, Section 21). We value good communication skills, IT competence, and readiness for independent work and decision-making. The candidate must hold a valid B-driver's license and have the possibility to use a personal car for work. The position is subject to a six (6) month probationary period.
