Learn more at www.silabs.com. Meet The Team The Matter team in Hyderabad is focused on enabling seamless connectivity and interoperability across smart home and IoT devices using the Matter protocol. The team is responsible for developing and maintaining the Matter IoT stack and integrating primarily with Wi-Fi on Silicon Labs hardware platforms. This involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure robust protocol implementation, platform integration, and validation across various use cases. The team plays a key role in driving Silicon Labs' vision of secure, scalable, and interoperable IoT solutions. The Role We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Associate Staff Engineer to join our Matter Stack team, contributing to the development and optimization of embedded software for smart home and IoT applications. This role demands strong technical expertise in embedded systems, C++, and wireless protocols, along with a proven ability to mentor team members and drive technical excellence. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain embedded software components for the Matter protocol stack. Lead technical initiatives and guide the team in solving complex engineering challenges. Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and foster a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate Matter with Wi-Fi and Thread-based platforms. Perform hands-on debugging using industry-standard tools (e.g., JTAG, GDB, Logic Analyzers). Optimize performance and reliability of embedded systems in resource-constrained environments. Contribute to protocol compliance, certification, and interoperability testing. Participate in architecture discussions and technical documentation. Skills you will need Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field. 8+ years of experience in embedded systems development. Strong proficiency in C++, with a deep understanding of memory management, concurrency, and object-oriented design. Proven experience in hands-on debugging of embedded systems using tools like GDB, JTAG, and trace analyzers. Solid understanding of Wi-Fi protocols, including 802.11 standards, WPA/WPA2, and IP networking. Familiarity with RTOS environments and low-level hardware interfaces (UART, SPI, I2C). Demonstrated experience in mentoring engineers and leading technical projects. Experience with artificial intelligence (AI) powered tools and technologies used to enhance productivity, analysis, and decision-making Preferred skills: Experience with Thread, Zigbee, or other mesh networking protocols. Exposure to Matter (Connected Home over IP) protocol stack. Knowledge of IPv6, mDNS, and secure commissioning flows. Nice to have skills: Experience contributing to open-source projects, demonstrating collaboration and community engagement. Familiarity with the Zephyr RTOS, including practical experience in development or integration.
