The early childhood education services of the City of Salo are seeking a special education teacher for early childhood education. In Salo's early childhood education, we build a happy childhood together in an accepting atmosphere, enjoying everyday play, experiences, and the joy of learning. The primary placement is in a reduced group at Torikatu Daycare. The main responsibilities are: The special education teacher is responsible for pedagogical planning, implementation, assessment, and development for their own group and leads their team’s pedagogical work. The special education teacher is an expert in growth and learning support, modeling various pedagogical practices and developing the learning environment in a small group together with other staff. The special education teacher collaborates across disciplines with other parties involved in supporting the child's growth and learning and participates in developing early childhood special education in the municipality together with other special education teachers. The qualification requirement for the special education teacher position is (540/2018 §30): 1) Qualification as an early childhood education teacher, with additional professional studies in special education as prescribed by government regulation; or 2) Master’s degree in education with a major in special pedagogy (early childhood special education). We require good interaction and teamwork skills, a positive and flexible work attitude, courage to act independently, and a desire to develop new practices in early childhood special education. The salary level is €3,203.22/month. An qualification supplement according to OVTES section G is paid for those meeting the qualification requirements for early childhood education teachers (€15.38/month) and for those with a master’s degree in education (€38.83/month). Additionally, a separate supplement of €90.67/month is paid to those with a master’s degree in education in Salo. In addition to the base salary, experience-based supplements may be paid according to the collective agreement. Personal supplements are also paid to all employees with employment exceeding six months. Before starting employment, the selected candidate must provide an acceptable health certificate and a criminal record extract as required by law (504/2002). A tuberculosis screening is also required (Communicable Diseases Act §55), which involves assessing the risk of tuberculosis transmission before employment. The work begins on August 3, 2026. The trial period is six months, provided the conditions of the collective agreement are met. If no qualified applicants are found, the position may be filled temporarily with an applicant who has early childhood education teacher qualification.
