Työtehtävän kuvaus
We hope you have an interest and readiness to work with children of all ages. Your group for the upcoming operational season will be confirmed after the application period ends in early June. Our unit has eight children's groups for children aged 1-6 years, and our activities are divided into three buildings: Building A and B, and a preschool group located at Niittykumpu School. Our team emphasizes sensitive and warm interactions with children. Positive pedagogy is evident in our daily interactions between children and adults. We pay special attention to encouraging speech — noticing the good in children and verbalizing it. We observe children's interests and aim to incorporate these into daily and pedagogical planning. Playfulness, joy, and laughter are part of our everyday life. Tontunmäki has a positive and humorous work community with relatively low staff turnover. Our staff includes skilled and versatile teachers and child caregivers at different stages of their careers. The daycare is located in a quiet residential area of Tontunmäki, with good transportation links near Urheilupuisto and Niittykumpu metro stations. The location offers excellent opportunities for nature excursions and physical activity in nearby meadows and forests. Our daycare is close to Tapiola's sports and cultural offerings, and our large outdoor yard provides versatile outdoor activities for children. The early childhood education social worker works in a children's group, focusing on education and care tasks. As an early childhood education social worker, you are responsible for implementing the group's activities together with other professionals, especially from the perspectives of children's well-being, participation, and resources. The role emphasizes the core skills of a social worker: collaboration with families, supporting children's social development, and timely early support for children and families from the perspective of family services. Observation, documentation, and continuous evaluation and development of activities are integral parts of your work. Your colleague will be the group's early childhood education teacher. Workplace name and address: Tontunmäki Daycare Center, Kotitontuntie 19, 02200 Espoo. Working hours: 38 hours 15 minutes/week. The position is permanent, starting from August 3, 2026. We will consider all applications received during the application period. We may process applications and conduct interviews during the application period. The final decision will be made after the application period ends and interviews are completed. Qualification requirement: At least a degree in social services and health care, including at least 60 ECTS credits in early childhood education and social pedagogy, as specified by government regulation, or a social worker degree supplemented with these studies (540/2018 27§). The role requires good interaction skills and organizational ability. Delivering quality early childhood education requires planning, observation skills, and a sensitive approach when working with children. The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as required by the Criminal Records Act, section 6.2. The Infectious Diseases Act obligates those working with preschool children to assess the risk of tuberculosis transmission. We value development-oriented attitudes and previous experience in early childhood education. Espoo — a pioneer city: courage to innovate, skill to develop. Espoo is a pioneering city. Our employer promise — courage to innovate, skill to develop — is reflected in our smooth daily work, long-term skill development, and smart leadership.
