We are seeking a temporary part-time teacher in Kauniainen to support students' swimming skills in the Finnish- and Swedish-speaking primary schools for the 2026-2027 school year, from August 1, 2026, to July 31, 2027. The position is project-based and funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture's grant for strengthening basic education swimming instruction. The initial teaching hours are 16 hours per week. The role includes teaching swimming in grades 1-9 in both Finnish and Swedish primary schools, as well as planning and coordinating city-level swimming instruction. The principal is the principal of Kauniainen's primary schools. Certificates demonstrating qualifications must be attached to the application, and original certificates must be presented at the possible interview. If qualified applicants are unavailable, consideration may also be given to applicants without formal teacher qualifications. The qualification requirement is compliance with the decree 986/1998 on the qualifications of education personnel. In addition to teacher qualifications, the position requires sufficient swimming instruction, water safety, and lifesaving skills for basic education swimming instruction (e.g., qualified physical education teacher or swimming instructor certification from the Finnish Swimming Teaching and Lifesaving Federation). The applicant must also be fluent in Finnish and Swedish and possess excellent cooperation and interaction skills. An independent and solution-oriented work approach, as well as an active and positive attitude and the ability to motivate and encourage children and young people to develop their swimming skills, are considered an advantage. A three-month probation period applies to the position. Salary and employment terms are determined according to the OVTES agreement. The selected person must present a criminal record extract related to working with children and young people (Act 504/2002) before starting employment. Employment is conditional until the person has formally accepted the temporary position in writing.
