We are seeking a social worker for open and foster care in child protection services at Kontinkangas child protection unit in Oulu. The area of responsibility is child protection in the Kontinkangas region of Oulu (city center-Kaukovainio-Maikkula), which covers open and foster care as well as post-care for minors. We are looking for a dedicated professional to develop high-quality and effective child protection services and customer-oriented services through multidisciplinary collaboration. Our goal is to focus more resources on working with children and families. A social worker may be responsible for up to 30 clients under 18 years of age. You will work alongside motivated professionals in a supportive environment that encourages professional growth. We value continuous learning and development as part of our success. You will not have to solve everything alone, as you will have support from your immediate supervisor and legal advisors. Your team includes 8 social workers and a responsible unit manager. Your workplace is located at the Kontinkangas Well-being Center. We offer weekly team meetings, supervision, and training related to child protection law, content, and phenomena. We appreciate the right attitude and approach, good communication skills, strong written expression, and the ability to work alongside clients. Experience working with children and families and participatory methods is considered an advantage. Child protection work in open and foster care is demanding and meaningful, suitable for those capable of handling diverse and challenging situations, with initiative and decision-making skills. The qualification requirement is a social worker license according to the Social Welfare Professionals Act (817/2015) section 7. If qualified applicants are unavailable, a student who has completed social work coursework and practical training may be appointed temporarily. We will verify original diplomas and employment certificates during interviews. Applicants must be registered in the register maintained by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) (Terhikki and/or Suosikki). The selected candidate must present a criminal record extract as specified in section 6, subsection 2 of the Criminal Records Act (504/2002). Before starting the position, the candidate must submit a medical certificate of health status (Act on Municipal and Well-being Services 7 §). We apply a probationary period of up to 6 months for employment relationships. We follow the law regarding vaccination protection, requiring vaccination against infectious diseases.
