The Northern Ostrobothnia Wellbeing Services County is seeking a Chief Physician for the health and medical care sector for a permanent position covering the areas of Nivala, Haapajärvi, Reisjärvi, Pyhäjärvi, Pyhännän, and Kärsämäki. The primary workplace location can be agreed upon separately. We are looking for a Chief Physician to lead and develop the functions within the health and medical care sector in the areas of Nivala, Haapajärvi, Reisjärvi, Pyhäjärvi, Pyhännän, and Kärsämäki. The Chief Physician acts as the supervisor of outpatient healthcare doctors and is responsible for part of the medical leadership and development of outpatient healthcare. The Chief Physician also participates in physician recruitment together with the wellbeing services recruitment unit and the Chief Physician responsible for primary healthcare. The role is mainly administrative but may include patient work (about 20% of working hours). The Chief Physician operates under the supervision of the Chief Physician responsible for primary healthcare. Successful performance of the role requires good cooperation, interaction, and negotiation skills, initiative, organizational ability, and readiness for data-driven management. Experience in multidisciplinary collaboration among different staff groups, proven results in close leadership, and supervisory work are valued. Experience in service development, interest in continuous quality assessment, and experience and interest in developing care pathways and continuity of care are considered advantageous. The qualification requirement for the position is a license or permit to practice medicine issued under the Act on Healthcare Professionals 559/94, and specialist medical qualification in a relevant specialty. We will verify original diplomas and employment certificates from those invited for an interview. Applicants must be registered in the register maintained by the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Terhikki and/or Suosikki). We observe a trial period of up to 6 months for employment relationships. The selected candidate must provide a medical certificate of health before assuming the position (Act on Municipal and Wellbeing Services County Officials 7 §). Regarding staff vaccination, we adhere to the vaccination requirements under the law on infectious diseases.
