Senior Backend Engineer

We’re Holvi, a small business fintech founded in 2011 in Helsinki. We help self-employed people manage the financial admin so they can focus on their core business. Our ARAP (Accounts Receivable / Accounts Payable) product team builds a comprehensive sales and expense management platform for SMEs, covering invoice management, bookkeeping and payment card services. The culture is built on respect, low hierarchy and ownership; engineers shape solutions, not just implement specifications. Backend is the home base for this role, with Python and Django at the core, though the team ships products, not isolated components, so occasional frontend work is expected when needed. You’ll collaborate with engineers, Product and Design to translate customer needs into solutions and production-ready code. We’re increasingly using AI-assisted development tools and workflows, while maintaining high standards of quality and security. You should have solid senior-level software engineering experience, be comfortable with Python and Django (or similar) and be able to take ownership of technically demanding work. You’ll refine requirements, work collaboratively, push your work forward and be willing to occasionally touch frontend code when needed. You should be fluent in English and open to AI-assisted workflows. Compensation: €5,300–€6,500/month, depending on experience. Hybrid working in Helsinki and Berlin, with remote options depending on location.
