Sous-Chef - Wilderness Safaris Saariselkä Oy - Etätyö - Globaali

We are looking for a Sous Chef to support our head chef at Northern Lights Village Saariselkä. This is a practical role with real responsibility and good opportunities to develop in professional kitchens. The restaurant mainly serves buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but also occasional à la carte dishes and special group orders. Key tasks include supporting the head chef in daily kitchen operations and food preparation, guiding and training kitchen staff, monitoring food quality and presentation, maintaining hygiene and safety standards, managing inventory and supporting orders, participating in menu development and cost control, and responding to guest food inquiries. Requirements include experience as a Sous Chef or similar role, a professional qualification in the restaurant sector or equivalent, hygiene passport or willingness to obtain one, good cooking techniques and recipe knowledge, understanding of health and safety regulations, strong organizational skills, and fluent English. Preferred skills include Finnish or other language skills, experience in a holiday village or high-volume kitchen, knowledge of Nordic cuisine and allergen management, and a valid B driver's license. We offer a unique work environment in Lapland, mentoring under an experienced head chef, opportunities for longer or year-round employment, staff benefits, seasonal contract starting in November and ending in March/April, 112.5 hours per 3 weeks, salary negotiable based on experience, and accommodation in shared rooms for 300 €/month. The role involves supporting kitchen operations, training staff, maintaining quality and hygiene, managing inventory, participating in menu and cost development, and guest communication. The work is based in Saariselkä, Lapland.
