Senior Cloud Engineer – Verkko: AWS - IFS - Etätyö - Globaali

The Senior Cloud Engineer - Networking is responsible for the design, operation, support, and continuous improvement of the network services that underpin Rhapsody’s AWS hosted platforms. This role combines deep technical expertise with strong operational leadership, customer engagement, and incident management capabilities. The successful candidate will serve as a senior member of the Cloud Operations function, leading operational shifts, coordinating cross functional response activities during critical incidents, and acting as a trusted technical point of contact for both internal stakeholders and enterprise customers. The role requires hands on expertise in AWS services including networking, hybrid connectivity, troubleshooting, and automation along with exceptional communication skills, customer facing experience, and the ability to remain composed during high-severity production incidents. Key Responsibilities include designing, configuring, and operating AWS networking components such as VPC, Subnets, Route Tables, NACLs, Security Groups, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, NAT, IGW, Route 53, and hybrid connectivity patterns. Building and maintaining site-to-site VPNs (IPsec) and Direct Connect (with BGP), including failover and HA designs; administering Sophos XG virtual firewalls. Coordinating incident response activities during P1 and P2 service impacting events, ensuring effective communication, stakeholder engagement, and timely resolution. Providing operational leadership during handovers, ensuring accurate shift transitions, risk identification, and continuity of service. Acting as a primary technical liaison for customer-facing networking incidents, escalations, and connectivity projects. Managing Layer-4/7 traffic using ALB/NLB, AWS WAF, TLS termination, and client/server certificate workflows (PKI). Leading deep-dive troubleshooting for network connectivity, packet flow, NAT, routing asymmetry, MTU/fragmentation, TCP/TLS, DNS, and identity-adjacent issues. Instrumenting and monitoring network health with CloudWatch, VPC Flow Logs, Datadog, firewall logs; responding to alerts, driving rapid mitigation, and providing RCA inputs. Executing network changes and environment builds using Terraform and AWS CLI following change controls and maintenance windows. Developing scripts (Bash/Python/PowerShell) for validation checks, log parsing, and configuration hygiene; reducing toil via automation and golden patterns. Maintaining auditable documentation and supporting patching and compliance activities. Working directly with customer IT/network teams to set up connectivity, perform cutovers, and resolve issues; explaining decisions and trade-offs clearly. Partnering with SRE/Engineering to improve observability, resiliency, and performance; assisting support with network-centric cases. Qualifications include 5+ years of experience in a Service Operations, NOC, SRE, Managed Services, or Production Support environment, hands-on AWS networking experience, strong network fundamentals, proficiency with Bash, Python, Terraform, AWS CLI, Linux fundamentals, and experience in 24x7 environments. Preferred qualifications include AWS certifications, Sophos XG experience, observability tools, scripting beyond basics, and ITIL certification. The role involves shift work and on-call participation. Educational qualification is a college degree in relevant fields or equivalent experience. We support flexible and hybrid work options.
